Bennie Thompson (D-MS), Chair of the House January 6th Committee, and Joe Biden have a relationship centered on the investigation of the Capitol attack, with Biden awarding Thompson the Presidential Citizens Medal in early 2025 for his leadership, and later, in his final hours in office, issuing pardons to Thompson and other committee members to protect them from potential "false prosecution" by the incoming administration. Biden praised Thompson's role in upholding democracy, while Thompson and the committee saw the awards and pardon as recognition for their service and defense against political targeting.
Frank Corder of the Magnolia Tribune in "The case of Congressman Bennie Thompson’s presidential pardon" reported:
"In the waning hours of his presidency, former President Joe Biden (D) issued a flurry of last-minute pardons to people he said did not deserve to be the targets of politically motivated prosecutions.
Among those were Mississippi 2nd District Congressman Bennie Thompson (D) and other members of the U.S. House Committee appointed by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D) to investigate the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.
The move came weeks after then-President-elect Donald Trump (R) told NBC’s “Meet the Press” host Kristen Welker that Thompson and former Congresswomen Liz Chaney (R) “should go to jail” for their role on the House Select Committee.
Biden, who awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal to Thompson and Chaney in early January, said in a statement from the White House that, “The issuance of these pardons should not be mistaken as an acknowledgment that any individual engaged in any wrongdoing, nor should acceptance be misconstrued as an admission of guilt for any offense.”
In response to the pardon, Congressman Thompson, the committee’s chairman, said, in part, “We have been pardoned today not for breaking the law but for upholding it.”"
Don't get too comfortable, Bennie, your pardon was signed by an auto-pen. In the "The Biden Autopen Presidency: Decline, Delusion, and Deception in the White House", the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Staff reported:
"The Biden Autopen Presidency ranks among the greatest scandals in U.S. history. As President Biden declined, his staff abused the autopen and a lax chain-of-command policy to effect executive actions that lack any documentation of whether they were in fact authorized. While President Biden became progressively less able to do his job—when every measure should have been taken to document and, if ever questioned, prove that President Biden had made final decisions—White House staff took shortcuts and ad hoc actions to keep the Biden presidency afloat. The Committee has found that there was, in fact, a cover-up of the president’s cognitive decline and that there is no record demonstrating President Biden himself made all of the executive decisions that were attributed to him."
Terry L. Turnipseed, Syracuse University College of Law., in "The President and the Autopen: It Is Unconstitutional for Someone or Something to Sign a Bill Outside of the President's Presence" writes, "...the President’s use of the autopen (or even a human being) to sign a bill outside of the President’s presence is unconstitutional. " Bennie is confortable with unconstitutional. The Nancy Pelosi Select Committee, of which she made him Chair, was unconstitutional.
Republican National Committee (RNC) claiming committee is illegitimate. Though the Republican National Committee had long insisted that the committee is invalid and should not be allowed to investigate, a federal judge found on May 1, 2022, that the committee's power is legitimate. Jonathan Turley, the Shapiro Professor of Public Interest Law at George Washington University, in "Pelosi’s Court: How the Jan. 6 committee undermined its own legitimacy" writes. "Indeed, if opposing views were allowed, then Republicans likely would call for the testimony of committee Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), who voted to challenge the certification of the 2004 results of President George W. Bush’s reelection; committee member Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) sought to challenge Trump’s certification in 2016. Both did so under the very law that Trump’s congressional supporters used in 2020. And Pelosi and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) praised the challenge organized by then-Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) in 2004.
The difference, of course, is that while there were violent protests in 2016 in Washington, there was not a riot that breached the Capitol. Yet, given that history, it was more important than ever for House leaders to reinforce the credibility of this committee by adhering to the long-respected principle of bipartisan appointments."
Congressman Jim Jordan. in a strongly written letter to Rep. Thompson, contested the Sekect Committee on multiple grounds:
- "Because the Select Committee has withheld information that contradicts Democrat narratives about January 6, I ask that you provide all documents, videos, or other material in the possession of the Select Committee that you potentially anticipate using, introducing, or relying on during questioning.
- Because members of the Select Committee have altered and publicly misrepresented nonpublic information concerning my actions, I ask that you provide all documents, communications, testimony, and other material in the possession of the Select Committee in which my name appears or in which I am referenced.
- Because you have acknowledged that there are open “questions” about the Select Committee’s authority to issue this subpoena, I ask that you provide all legal authorities and legal analyses in the possession of the Select Committee or the office of House of Representatives General Counsel pertaining to the constitutionality of a non-ethics congressional subpoena to a Member of Congress."
Bennie is cumfortable with corrupted elections!
C.J. LeMaster uf WLBT Srudio 3 in "Congressional candidate challenges last week’s election results after losing District 2 seat" wrties, "Johnson awaits a trial date on embezzlement, fraud and bribery charges for her alleged role in the scheme.
The District 2 election commissioner drew the ire of candidates and fellow commissioners last week when she decided to wait until the day after election day to count her seven precincts.
However, Secretary of State Michael Watson said to his knowledge, state law does not require counting to be done by commissioners on election night as long as the results are completed within the ten-day deadline for results to be certified.
“We’re wanting an audit, so we can get the figures and see what it is. If the figures state that I lost after the audits done, great. If not, then we need to dig in a little bit further,” Flowers said."
Toni Johnson's relationship with Congressman Bennie Thompson is that of a political associate and former employee, but she has also been a political opponent and a vocal critic.
- Former Association: Toni Johnson previously served as a Hinds County Election Commissioner in Mississippi. A social media post from Congressman Thompson's official Facebook page mentions "Toni Johnson's not as effective anymore," implying a previous working relationship or involvement in his political machine.
- Political Opposition/Rivalry: Johnson has run against one of Thompson's political allies, likely generating some friction. A source from the SCTonline.net suggests she "went to the highest bidder," an accusation made by an opponent of Johnson, indicating political maneuvering and rivalry.
- Criticism and Allegations: Johnson has faced legal issues, including being arrested in 2022 by the auditor's office for allegedly misusing pandemic relief funds, which her political opponents, including those connected to the Thompson sphere of influence, have used as a point of criticism.
Thompson has been endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America Political Action Committee in the past, and has faced accusations of being a "Marxist" by online commentators and political opponents, which are not supported by official records or credible fact-checking organizations. John Bresnahan of Politico in "Ethics probes saddle Dems in 2010" wrote, "Recently, Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi has had to deny allegations that he used his chairmanship of the Homeland Security Committee to help raise campaign contributions." Google AI wants us to know that "Rep. Thompson has a long history of fighting against election fraud and voter suppression as a civil rights advocate and public official; there are no credible reports of him being involved in election fraud. " The Democratic narrative on civil rights has shifted dramatically: historically, Southern Democrats enforced segregation (Jim Crow) and opposed Black voting rights, while the modern party champions equality, voting rights, and protections against discrimination, a transformation catalyzed by the Civil Rights Movement and the party's shift after the 1960s when Northern Democrats and a Republican-Democrat coalition passed landmark legislation like the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Today's narrative focuses on dismantling systemic inequality, ensuring voting access, and advancing minority rights, contrasting with the past, though internal debates exist on strategies to combat racism. Marxists and other socialists were involved in advocating for African American civil rights from as early as the 1930s, long before the main unified Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s, and their involvement with the Democratic Party is a much more recent development. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had strong ties to socialist and Marxist thought, was influenced by socialist thinkers, and was friends with many socialists, though he ultimately didn't identify strictly as a Marxist but rather developed a form of Christian socialism, rejecting capitalism's materialism while criticizing Soviet communism, advocating for racial and economic justice as intertwined. He was sympathetic to socialist ideas, calling himself more "socialistic in my economic theory" in 1952, and his close advisors included known socialists, but he sought a "higher synthesis" beyond both capitalism and communism, focusing on democratic reforms and a universal basic income. Christian Socialism? Christian Socialists! What Democrats call themselve because they don't want to be known as Marxists.
Thompson (D-MS) is a prominent figure who has served multiple times as the Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security (2007-2011, 2019-2023) and is currently the Ranking Member. Thompson watched illegals invade the US during his chairmanship. The unauthorized immigrant population in the U.S. peaked around 12 million in 2007, then declined until roughly 2019, stabilizing around 10-11 million, but has seen recent growth, with estimates placing it around 11.7 to 14 million by 2023, depending on the source and methodology. Key trends since 2007 include a significant decrease in unauthorized immigrants from Mexico, while visa overstays have increasingly contributed to the total unauthorized population, with some sources noting overstays have surpassed unlawful entries (EWIs) in recent years. During the 1990's, President Bill Clinton, explicitly stated, "We cannot tolerate illegal immigration and we must stop it". The Clinton administration deported over 850,000 individuals. President Barack Obama set a record for deportations, with over 3 million removals during his time in office. In 2007, then-Senator Joe Biden, for instance, opposed granting driver's licenses to undocumented immigrants and called for imprisoning their employers, indicating a more conservative stance at the time than some current positions.
Why would Democrats want illegals when they created the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Border Patrol? The 1924 Immigration Act (Johnson-Reed Act) passed with broad, bipartisan support driven by nativism, favoring Northern/Western Europeans and severely cutting Southern/Eastern European and Asian immigration via "national origins" quotas, though Democrats were deeply split with KKK-linked Southern factions clashing with urban, immigrant-supporting wings, as seen at their chaotic 1924 convention. Republicans generally pushed restriction, while Democrats were divided, but both parties had members supporting the bill, which passed overwhelmingly (323-71 in the House). The U.S. Border Patrol was established by Congress in 1924 under the Labor Appropriation Act, during a period of rising anti-immigrant sentiment and restrictive quotas. Bunk History in "Lessons from the 1924 Democratic Convention: An Immigration Debate's Impact" reports: "New York Governor Alfred E. Smith led a faction of urban Democrats who supported a vision of a nation built on manufacturing, immigrants who provided cheap labor, and sprawling urban centers full of opportunity. William Gibbs McAdoo represented older Democrats based in the rural South and West, firmly rooted in agrarian values, who had no love for the racial intermingling, political corruption and crime of the big cities. The fight came to a head when Smith Democrats sought a plank in the party platform that condemned the Ku Klux Klan but lost by a single vote."
Now, Thompson says he refuses to fund ICE. It wasn't always so:
- Clinton Administration: Thompson voted for measures that indirectly supported ICE as part of broader drug control and immigration policies aimed at strengthening border security.
- Bush Administration: His votes generally aligned with funding packages that strengthened homeland security and immigration enforcement following the 9/11 attacks.
- Obama Administration: Thompson's votes started to reflect increasing concern over deportation measures, particularly as family separations during the Obama era became a significant ethical issue. He supported some funding but criticized aggressive deportation policies.
- Biden Administration: Thompson has publicly opposed substantial ICE funding, reflecting a stance that critiques the agency's current methods and strategies under ongoing political discourse and community impacts.
This evolution in Thompson's voting behavior reflects a shift from general support of ICE funding to a more critical stance in light of both ethical concerns and responses to immigration practices. Nothing has changed for the mission of ICE. Recent news from late 2025 and early 2026 indicates ongoing and heightened federal immigration enforcement activity in and around Jackson, Mississippi, with reports of numerous arrests and a significant operation called "Swamp Sweep".
Key Developments
Increased Enforcement: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol have been actively conducting operations, with notable arrests reported in Ridgeland, Canton, and along Interstate 20 in Rankin County. These operations have included worksite enforcement at local businesses.
Operation "Swamp Sweep": A major federal push headquartered in New Orleans but with expected impacts in southeastern Mississippi and potentially the Jackson area, this operation aims to locate, arrest, and deport individuals residing in the U.S. illegally, with a focus on those with criminal convictions.
Political Context: The city of Jackson has been described by the White House as a "de facto sanctuary city for criminals and illegal aliens" in a statement about crime in Democrat-run cities, though local officials maintain the city is not working with ICE.
Proposed State Legislation: The Mississippi legislature recently considered a bill that would have criminalized illegal immigration under state law and allowed for local law enforcement reimbursement for assisting ICE, but the bill died in early 2026.
Community Impact: Immigration raids and increased enforcement have heightened fear and anxiety within the immigrant community, with advocacy groups like the Mississippi Immigrants Rights Alliance advising people to stay home as much as possible.
Immigration enforcement was a Not In My Background (NIMBY) thing. Now in Jackson. MS, its a Thompson thing. Democrats have changed, They seek low wage earners, voters by amnesty and a desire to overcome President Trump and the Make America Great Again (MAGA) Movement.
Before I argue that Thompson should be jailed for election tainting, I must say the burden is not the Democrats alone. Republicans seek the self-interest of impeaching President Trump and end his Movement. Its not the first time that Mississppi Democrats and Mississippi Republicans work together to negatively impact an election. I give you the Mississippi Plan of 1874–1875.
The Mississippi Plan of 1874–1875 was developed by white Southern Democrats as part of the white insurgency during the Reconstruction era in the Southern United States. It was devised by the Democratic Party in that state to overthrow the Republican Party in Mississippi by means of organized threats of violence and voter suppression against African American citizens and white Republican supporters. Democrats sought to regain political control of the state legislature and governor's office 'peaceably if we can, forcibly if we must.' Their justifications were articulated on a basis of discontent with governor Adelbert Ames' Republican administration, including spurious charges of corruption and high taxes. However, the violence that followed was centered on the desire to return white supremacy to the state. The success of the disfranchisement policy led to similar plans being adopted by white Democrats in every Southern state after 1890.
To end election violence and ensure that freedmen were excluded from politics, the Democrat-dominated state legislature passed a new constitution in 1890, which effectively disenfranchised and disarmed most blacks by erecting barriers to voter registration and firearms ownership. Disenfranchisement was enforced through terrorist violence and fraud, and most black people stopped trying to register or vote. They did not regain the power to vote until the late 1960s when the federal Voting Rights Act of 1965 was passed to authorize federal oversight of state practices and protect citizens' right to vote.
While Radical Republicans championed Black rights during Reconstruction, some white Southern Republicans (scalawags) and even national Republicans eventually supported policies that paved the way for Jim Crow by prioritizing party unity or Northern economic interests over strict enforcement of Black civil rights, contributing to the end of Reconstruction and the rise of white supremacy, though outright supporting Jim Crow laws was more a post-Reconstruction Democratic effort. "Scalawags" (white Southern Republicans) were a key part of the political landscape the Mississippi Plan of 1875 targeted, but the Plan's goal was to eliminate their power and that of Black Republicans by using violence, intimidation, and fraud, forcing many scalawags to switch parties or flee, ultimately ending Reconstruction in Mississippi.
It's always been violence wuth the Radical Left abd Reoublicans caving.
You don't have to go to Fulton County. GA to see the "uni-party" at work on elections.
Republican leaders and critics believe a potential Supreme Court ruling weakening the Voting Rights Act (VRA) could allow them to dismantle Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson's majority-Black district in Mississippi, potentially ending his long tenure by redrawing lines to dilute Black voting power. Mississippi is actively redrawing election districts for its state legislature and Supreme Court due to federal court orders finding the 2022 maps violated the Voting Rights Act by diluting Black voting strength, with new lines for legislative seats already creating new Black-majority districts and a separate ruling requiring Supreme Court districts to be redrawn by the 2026 session. SCOTUS DECISION, no problem, just erase. Newsweek's Alex J. Rouhandeh on "Democrats Could Lose These Districts if SCOTUS Curtails Voting Rights Act" writes, "Nineteen Democratic-held Congressional districts could fall into Republican hands and keep the House under GOP control depending on the results of a landmark case being reargued before the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
The question being deliberated in Louisiana v. Callais centers on whether Louisiana’s “intentional creation of a second majority-minority congressional district violates the Fourteenth or Fifteenth Amendments.” The Fourteenth Amendment grants birthright citizenship and equal treatment under the law while the Fifteenth states the right to vote cannot be denied on the basis of race."
That won'r stop needless shenanigans from going on with Hinds County elections, On Saturday, November 26, 2022 in Voice of Liberty's "Mississippi Democrats Toni Johnson and Kidada Brown Refuse to Certify Election Results Challenged By Republican Brian Flowers", the Exceptional One wrote, "The Yahoo News reported, thanks to the faithful, elected official that "there were no election results from Hinds County until just before midnight Tuesday, and as of noon (the following) Wednesday has just over two-thirds of the expected total reported". While not the exact origins of dysfunction for the Hines County Election Board, it was certainly a terrific illumination of the corruption, malfeasance, and incompetence witnessed during the Democrat Election Count Season in Mississippi's capital city--Jackson. " Hinds County is back with more election foolishness in 2026. One of these days, people will catch up with the mountainous violations of civil rights from the Hind County Election Commission. Suddenly they can't count the absentee ballots in 2026. Who uses absentee ballots?
Michael Watson, Republican and Mississippi Secretary of State, the same that oversaw the Brian Flowers' Election fiasco in 2022. In a television interview on March 26, 2021, Watson expressed concern that "woke" college students in Mississippi, among others, would vote, falsely claiming that an Executive Order by President Biden on March 6, 2021, would automatically register people to vote. Watson admits Election fraud can happen. So Election Fraud is possible in little ol' Mississippi? Stephen Dawson in "Electoral fraud and the paradox of political competition" writes, "Using novel pre-election polling data for 109 presidential elections around the world between 1996 and 2016, results suggest that ex ante closeness incites electoral fraud. In democratic contexts, closer elections – and elections in which the incumbent’s prospects are ambiguous – are associated with greater levels of ballot box manipulation as attempts are made to get over the finish line. This is the case largely irrespective of whether the incumbent is marginally ahead or behind in the race, suggesting that it is the mere uncertainty of the election result that can encourage election day fraud." An absentee ballot is a vote cast by someone who is unable to attend the official polling station to which the voter is normally allocated. Methods include voting at a different location, postal voting, proxy voting and online voting. According to USA Facts, "in the 2024 election, nearly 60% of voters cast their ballots early or by mail: 29.0% voted by mail, 30.7% voted early, and 39.6% went to the polls on Election Day. That’s up from about 40% in 2018 and 50% in 2022 but lower than 2020, when 69% voted early or by mail as states expanded early in-person and mail-in options in response to COVID-19." Massachussetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Election Lab in "Voting by mail and absentee voting" write, "Another question surrounding VBM is whether it increases voter fraud. Two major features of VBM raise these concerns. First, the ballot is cast outside the public eye, and thus the opportunities for coercion and voter impersonation are greater. Second, the transmission path for VBM ballots is not as secure as traditional in-person ballots. These security concerns relate both to ballots being intercepted and ballots being requested without the voter’s permission." Despite these risks, President Jimmy Carter said, "“I urge political leaders across the country to take immediate steps to expand vote-by-mail and other measures that can help protect the core of American democracy – the right of our citizens to vote.”"
The US Department of Justice Civil Rights Division wants you to know: "The Civil Rights Acts provide some of the early federal statutory protections against discrimination in voting. Certain of these protections originated in the Civil Rights Act of 1870, and were later amended by the Civil Rights Acts of 1957, 1960, and 1964. The voting provisions of the Civil Rights Acts are codified at 52 U.S.C. 10101 & 52 U.S.C. 20701-20706 (formerly 42 U.S.C. 1971 & 1974)." Absentee ballot for one and not all is discrimination. Violations of Civil Rights Acts (1957, 1960, 1964) related to voting, primarily concerning intimidation, threats, and coercion, carry penalties including federal prosecution, significant fines (potentially over $100,000), and imprisonment (up to 5 years or more), often under statutes like 18 U.S.C. § 594 and § 245(b)(1)(A), with the goal of enforcing voting rights and ensuring fair access to the ballot. These acts empower the Attorney General to sue for injunctions and the courts to issue equitable relief, enforcing federal guarantees against racial discrimination in voting. Doesn't seem to matter to Rep. Thompson, who had an employee, Toni Johnson, serving as member of Hinds County Election Commission, and Hinds County. Conflict of interest, anyone? A conflict of interest (COI) is a situation in which a person or organization is involved in multiple interests, financial or otherwise, and serving one interest could involve working against another. Typically, this relates to situations in which the personal interest of an individual or organization might adversely affect a duty owed to make decisions for the benefit of a third party.
Your Civil Rights? The only rights that matter are the ones that fit my Democrat narrative!
Candice Brucel of WBLT Studio 3 in "Hinds County Election Commission won’t assist with March primary elections" reports, "The Hinds County Election Commission will not provide assistance for the March 10 congressional primary elections, leaving both political parties to conduct the voting process independently.
According to the County Election Handbook provided by the MS Secretary of State, it is the parties’ responsibility to conduct primary elections and can receive help from the Hinds County Election Commission through a written agreement.
The commission voted 4-1 against entering contracts to help with ballot ordering and poll worker training, services typically provided for primary elections."
Brucel continues, "District 4 Commissioner Yvonne R. Horton said both parties failed to submit contracts in a timely manner for commission assistance.
“They voted 4 to 1 to not assist in any of the, to enter a contract with us and not assist,” Horton said.
“We submitted a contract in early January. It was the same contract that was used in 2023. We just changed the name and updated the dates, requesting just the same service, and they denied,” Lott III said."
Wait a minute, Yvonne Horton? I heard that name before!
Saturday, November 26, 2022, the Exceptional One wrote, "Democratic Party Member Yvonne Robinson Horton seemed the moral leader of the Hinds County, Mississippi Election Commission. This misdirection could easily have been assessed from her public notice on late Election night, when the District 4 Election Commissioner announced that vote tallies from 21 precincts in the county which had been stored on thumb drives were unaccounted for, according to multiple media reports...Horton, a Marxist celebrant of Kwanzaa through her Women for Progress of Mississippi, Inc. membership, is in an organization committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and preservation of the common good, except when the commitment requires the protection of the Republican candidate's just pursuits. No partisanship or bias here. In how Horton handled the press and her fellow commissioners, you would think her principles would move her unto righteousness. She, the chair of the Administrative Council at Asbury United Methodist Church and holder of a Master’s degree in Social Science Education from Jackson State University (JSU), certainly misled us on her certification intentions.
How?
You would think that from the amount of shade that she was throwing on Kidada Brown, Jermal Clark, and Toni Johnson, during media interviews, she would be willing to decertify Hinds County with a quickness! The incredible rolling of her eyes at the responses of her fellow election commissioners, during a WAPT 16 interview with Scott Simmons, would have led one to believe the Church Leader had found a sinner in the pews and was calling for the Holy Oil! Her public denouncement on election night seemed to have indicted Toni Johnson. Her eye rolls at Steve Harvey Super Fan Kidada Brown and Jermal Clark seemed to have convicted them of incompetence and spreading a false narrative. You would have thought that this pillar of the community would have stood up for righteousness. However, she did not disappoint. .. Horton is a Democrat, first and foremost. The member of the Jackson State University National Alumni Association, Inc, (JSUNAA), Women for Progress member, and NAACP member stayed true to form and joined Chairman Shirley Varnado and Jermal Clark in certifying the Hinds County Election. Horton, the Friend of the Annie Jeffers Library of Bolton, MS, couldn't have possibly tried to get Congressman Bennie Thompson, Incorporator of the Annie Thompson Scholarship Fund of Bolton, MS, over the hurdle. Done in spite of foreknowledge of her fellow commissioner's midterm election fraud and incompetence. By the way, for those trying to figure this out, Annie Lauris Thompson Jeffers aka Annie Jeffers, aka Annie Thompson is the mother of Congressman Bennie Thompson, the former Mayor of Bolton.
No Party Before Principle here?"
“After 30 years of waiting, Bennie’s people are still poor. Food and gas prices rising, now Bennie’s raising taxes more.”
