DEAR PRESIDENT TRUMP: END MARXIST "VISION ZERO" IN DC

DEAR PRESIDENT TRUMP: END MARXIST "VISION ZERO" IN DC

NO ONE CAN! No one can point to the success of DC's Vision Zero program. Not the Radical Left. Not the Socialists Democrats. Not the Marxist Revolutionaries. Not the "work from home" bureaucrats. Not the Mainstream Media. Not the Republicans-in-name-only. Where has Marxism worked?

  • Soviet Union: Following the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917, Marxist ideologies were implemented leading to the establishment of a one-party state. Initially, there were successes in heavy industrialization, but by the 1980s, economic inefficiencies contributed to its eventual dissolution.
  • China: After the Chinese Civil War, Mao Zedong established a communist regime in 1949. The radical reforms in land redistribution and the Great Leap Forward aimed for rapid industrialization but failed, leading to significant famine. Since the late 1970s, China has shifted toward a market economy, resulting in impressive growth.
  • Cuba: Following the 1959 revolution, Fidel Castro implemented extensive reforms, nationalizing industries and providing social services. While Cuba achieved high educational and health standards, it has faced economic difficulties due to trade restrictions and the lack of diversified economic development.
  • Vietnam: After the Vietnam War, the communist government enforced Marxist policies. Economic reforms (Đổi Mới) in the 1980s shifted towards a socialist-oriented market economy, which led to significant growth and poverty alleviation.
  • North Korea: Established under Kim Il-sung in 1948, North Korea maintained a strict interpretation of Marxism-Leninism, emphasizing military power and state control over the economy. This has resulted in humanitarian crises alongside a strong military presence.

Add DC to the List. Marxism doesn't work!

On Saturday, November 18, 2023, "The Exceptional One" Ken McClenton wrote in "Time to Audit the Audit: DC Vision Zero Deaths Up 69%", "DC Vision Zero wasn’t working but all seemed silent. The Vision Zero campaign originated in Sweden and was first introduced with a zero-by-2020 tagline back in the '90s.  Mayor Muriel Bowser, at a time when District Homicides were soaring in 2015, adorned herself in helmet and suit of armor, unsheathed her sword, and made a bold declaration at the knights’ table: “There Will Be No More Traffic Deaths in the District of Columbia by 2024!”  The knaves of the mainstream media were a gasp.  They reported all over the land that the Warlord of Their Raven Marxist Agenda had chosen quite wisely." According to DC Metropolitan Police, whom we trust with our lives regarding statistics, Traffic Fatalities as of January 15, 2026 are up 150%!

It may be more or less depending on Bowser and DC MPD. Associated Press' Gary Fields in "DC's inspector general is investigating police crime statistics, the latest probe against the force" writes, "Washington's inspector general's office announced on Monday that it has started an investigation into the Metropolitan Police Department’s crime data reporting system, the latest in a series of probes into how the force has collected its crime statistics.

In a letter to interim police Chief Jeffery Carroll, Inspector General Daniel Lucas said his overall objective is “to assess the design, implementation, and operation of MPD’s internal control system for collecting, classifying and reporting crime data and statistics."

The police force's crime statistics collection has faced increasing scrutiny from authorities in recent weeks. That has come after President Donald Trump issued a monthlong emergency order last summer that federalized the police force and launched a federal law enforcement operation in the nation's capital that his Republican administration said was meant to fight crime."

"Marxism" and "Vision Zero" address societal goals (utopian societal transformation vs. ending traffic deaths) from different angles, but share themes of redistributing responsibility and focusing on systemic change over individual blame, with Vision Zero emphasizing shared responsibility for safety (designers/gov't) and Marxism highlighting class/production systems, leading to contemporary Marxist critiques focusing on how capitalism drives traffic injustice, advocating for equitable, community-driven solutions to traffic fatalities as part of broader social justice.

DC Department of Transportation (DDOT) does not track Vision Zero spending as a single line item, making it difficult to provide a simple, total amount per fiscal year. The initiative involves multiple agencies and is funded through various capital and operating budgets, including significant investments in specific safety projects and automated traffic enforcement (ATE). DC does not have a single, consolidated "total spending" figure publicly reported for its Vision Zero initiative because funding is distributed across multiple agencies and budget lines, making tracking difficult. However, reports indicate hundreds of millions of dollars have been invested in overall roadway safety efforts since the program launched in 2015. Councilmember Charles Allen said, "Allen praised Bowser for “planting the flag and setting a Vision Zero goal” but said echoed the auditor’s report that D.C. has not done enough to meet that goal. He said it is still an achievable goal and solutions are sitting on the shelf unfunded or unused. Allen sponsored the Vision Zero Omnibus bill, which outlined several solutions but cost $171 million over four years. Mostly only the free to cheap portions of that law have been completed," as quoted in "D.C. Auditor Report: Vision Zero Program Didn’t Have Enough Funding, Staffing To Succeed" by Jordan Pascale.

Hey, comrade, the fire is not burning bright. Add more money!

Pascale adds "This is the first audit of DDOT’s program, which focused on changing infrastructure and staffing. A second audit, which might come out next year, is looking at the District’s enforcement strategies under the police, the Department of Public Works, and DDOT."

No sense keeping your hands to the fire for warmth. Your just wasting money!

As of August 2024, city officials reported that roughly $418 million had been spent on roadway changes within the District. The full implementation of the Vision Zero Enhancement Omnibus Amendment Act of 2020 was estimated to cost $171 million over four years (FY21-FY24). However, reports from the DC Auditor and local advocates indicated that much of the costlier components of this bill remained unfunded and only the free or cheap portions were completed initially. The lack of a single, dedicated funding stream and the distribution of costs across various agency budgets (such as the District Department of Transportation - DDOT's operating and capital budgets) have been cited by the DC Auditor as hurdles to meeting the program's goal of zero fatalities or serious injuries by 2024.

The comrades were duly warned!

Mayor Bowser's Fiscal Year 2023 budget included historic levels of investment in street safety, some key components of which were:

  • $200 million for Streetscapes, which includes addressing high-crash intersections and corridors.
  • $36 million to expand DC's bike lane network by 10 miles per year over six years.
  • $10 million for Vision Zero quick-build intersection safety improvements.
  • $10.4 million for the expansion of the school crossing guard program.

This is the same regime that spent $200 million on a train to nowhere that they had to shutdown! WTOP's Diane Morris in "DC Streetcar service to end in 2026, a year earlier than originally planned" writes, "If you’ve come to depend on the D.C. Streetcar to get around the H Street corridor, you might not be able to for much longer. The District Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that the service is ending on March 31, 2026.

The closure comes a year earlier than initially planned, for March 2027, after the D.C. Council cut funding for the line in its fiscal year 2026 budget.

In a statement, DDOT officials said the decision comes after years of low ridership. They also cited the system’s operational challenges because it ran in mixed traffic, and it also racked up higher costs to maintain and extend the system."

Banning cars isn't a universal Vision Zero tactic, but rather a component of radical road redesigns in some successful cities (like parts of Oslo, Stockholm) that drastically cut deaths by prioritizing pedestrians/cyclists, while U.S. efforts often falter due to lack of political will for slowing traffic and limiting vehicle size, despite some local wins with speed limits, traffic calming, and technology. Success hinges on tough choices to slow cars and redesign streets, with some cities seeing major drops in fatalities (e.g., Hoboken, NYC congestion zone) while others struggle with rising deaths, highlighting that genuine commitment to systemic change, not just slogans, is key.
  • Oslo, Norway: Banned cars from large central areas, leading to near-zero traffic deaths in some years, showcasing extreme success in reducing car dominance.

The original goal of Vision Zero is not to eliminate cars entirely but to achieve zero deaths and serious injuries on roadways. It focuses on creating safer transportation systems rather than outright banning cars. The initiative emphasizes safer infrastructure, improved traffic management, and better education on road safety to protect all users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.

Google AI wants you to know that Oslo didn't fully ban all cars and trucks but implemented major restrictions in its city center, removing most private vehicles by eliminating parking and converting spaces to bike lanes and pedestrian zones, while allowing essential services like delivery trucks, disabled vehicles, and public transport (buses, trams) to improve air quality and livability. The initiative, part of a larger strategy to cut emissions, shifted focus from a total ban to reducing private car access and encouraging walking, cycling, and public transit, making Oslo a model for sustainable urban planning. The Guardian's Athlyn Cathcart-Keays in "Oslo's car ban sounded simple enough. Then the backlash began" writes, "One day late last summer, in Frogner, a central neighborhood of Oslo, Nils Sandberg received a note.

“It simply stated that shortly, parking spaces in these streets would disappear and bicycle lanes would be built,” says Sandberg. He spoke to neighbors, and learned they had all received the same note. “This came as a total surprise and shock.”

More people own cars in Frogner than in most other parts of Oslo – 38% household ownership, compared to roughly 30% in other central neighborhoods – and the idea of losing all their parking space to bike lanes did not appeal.

“We are not against cycling,” says Sandberg, who now leads a campaign to save the parking spaces. “We do, however, believe that cycling is not the only reason for the chosen routes – it is definitely also meant to force a maximum number of cars out.”"

The Radical Left's Google AI must have missed that one. I'll report it.

While I'm reporting, the Radical Left want you to know, "Everything is alright! Nothing to see here!"

Esther Ciammachilli, Chris Remington, and Chaseedaw Giles of WAMU 88.5 in "‘Vision Zero’ is failing nationwide. How is D.C. bucking the trend this year?" write, "Nationwide traffic deaths have climbed about 20 percent over the last decade, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Many cities have struggled to meet their Vision Zero goals, including D.C., where fatalities rose steadily every year for the past decade. But in 2025, the District has recorded more than a 50 percent drop in traffic deaths compared to the same point last year." It took three of them to write a story to try to quell the villagers. I still see pitchforks and torches. Sorry, it's just Governor Tim Waltz and the Bused In. Winner of a Grammy for their recording, "ICE, ICE, Baby"

Brad Tucker of the ColoBikeLaw Blog in "Why Vision Zero Failed" writes, "Roughly 50 cities across the country have adopted Vision Zero, and few, if any, have produced solid results in reducing traffic injuries and deaths. In Denver, traffic deaths have risen every single year since Vision Zero began in 2017, according to StreetsBlog. In Los Angeles, another city that has a Vision Zero program, road fatalities just reached a 20-year high. Washington D.C. has seen similar results. According to a 2023 audit by the Office of the District of Columbia, the three main reasons for the failure of Vision Zero are:

  • Lack of funding
  • Inconsistent oversight
  • Inadequate law enforcement

The Auto-Industry's Stranglehold on American Minds and Municipalities

Vision Zero has been somewhat successful in Sweden, where traffic deaths have been cut in half since it was implemented, though for a program that has ‘zero' in the name, even Sweden is falling short. However, car culture here in the US provides an additional speed bump that Sweden does not have. Virtually all trips are made by motor vehicle in the United States, where cities, states, and the federal government prioritize highways and large, fast surface streets—speed over safety—that bisect communities and make it extremely difficult to get around without a car. Instead of funding public transportation, we fund highways and large surface streets. On top of this, we expect the average citizen to dish out roughly $12,000 a year, on average according to the New York Times, to own a vehicle."

Nah, it does sound like their juiced for a car and truck ban!

London, England hasn't enacted a sweeping ban on all cars and trucks but has implemented significant restrictions, like the ULEZ for polluting vehicles, trials for pedestrianizing Oxford Street (though debated), and bans for dangerous lorries, with broader national goals for phasing out petrol/diesel vehicle sales by 2030/2035 to reduce emissions and improve air quality.

There is nothing like hearing the call to prayer, five times a day, on your City mandated 10 speed.

DC MPD just has 20 year stats on traffic fatalities: Let' look at traffic fatalities since "Vision Zero" was implemented, the first year of Bowser's terms, 2015:

FY2015    26

FY2016    28

FY2017    30

FY2018    36

FY2019    27

FY2020    37   .

FY2021    40

FY2022    35

FY 2023    52

FY2024    52    I'm sorry. This is supposed to be 0 according to the Great Prophet Bowser.

FY2025    25    I'm sorry. This is supposed to be 0 according to the Great Prophet Bowser.

FY2026    5      I'm sorry. This is supposed to be 0 according to the Great Prophet Bowser. Up 150%

A 50% drop in statics for 2025. I'll wait for the DC IG!

In 2023, The Exceptional One concluded, "How did Sweden handle Vision Zero failure?  Belin writes. “The target for 2007 to halve the number of fatalities from 1998 was missed by more than 200 fatalities, compared to what the target stipulated. In 2006, the Social Democrat Party was voted out of office.”  Social Democratic is the name of socialist parties in several countries.  Democratic socialism has been described as representing the left-wing or socialist tradition of the New Deal.  We call it the Democrat Party in the United States.  Socialism has a way of always running out of Utopian ideas shortly before they run out of other peoples’ money.  Sweden understood how you deal with Utopian ideas that lead to poor results and financially broken systems: VOTE THEM OUT!"

If We the People had fair elections would love to do so. However, Mr. President, We the People don't! I call upon you to end this Marxist charade. Put an end to this Marxist stunt. I will give you a great motivation: George Soros. In December 2024, reports indicated that a Soros philanthropy group, the Foundation to Promote Open Society, gave $250,000 to the Fund for Educational Excellence (FFEE) in 2019 to support Baltimore's "Safe Streets" program. The Baltimore program focuses on violence interruption strategies. Reports in August 2025 indicated that several "dark money" organizations, including some that have received funding from Soros-backed groups, contributed over $20 million to groups funding protests against a Trump-era crime crackdown in Washington D.C.. One such group, Free DC, which advocates for D.C. home rule, received funding through a fiscal sponsor from a Soros-backed organization. Yes, George Soros's Open Society Foundations (OSF) funds numerous organizations in Washington D.C. and nationally, focusing on democracy, civil rights, justice reform, and various progressive causes, drawing scrutiny from conservatives who link these grants to left-leaning policies, leading to calls for federal investigations into potential misuse of funds or ties to extremism, though OSF denies funding terrorism and promotes human rights. It's time to end Home Rule and say goodbye to Bowser, Soros and the Radical Left.

Give them some music for their dance out of the city!
